Job Description
This position supports the needs of Infants, Toddlers, Children and Adults in Wyoming who are Blind or have low vision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Provide consultative support and program guidance to schools, preschools, and other agencies serving individuals who are blind or have low vision.
- Plan, conduct, and facilitate workshops, student-specific technical assistance, conferences, and in-service trainings related to the needs of individuals who are blind/low vision.
- Oversee regional operations of federal and state programs for people who are blind/low vision.
- Facilitate, through direct service, the attainment of compensatory skills, job skills, assistive technology use, and independent living skills for adults who are blind/low vision.
- Assess needs for and provide access to adaptive equipment.
- Assist in the general supervision responsibilities of the WDE, as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, including monitoring, technical assistance, professional development, and annual grant reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Education)
Experience:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.
