What You’ll Do:

Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence

· Set the vision and strategy for specialized itinerant education and orientation & mobility services for students who are blind or visually impaired.

· Oversee program development, staffing, performance Management, budgeting, compliance, and service delivery with a focus on excellence and equity.

· Ensure compliance with IEP timelines and service standards

· Drive departmental growth to expand services and reach more students in need.

· Lead data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Contribute to signature student programs like the Braille Challenge and Cane Quest, as needed.

Team Management & Professional Development

· Recruit, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team of educators and mobility instructors.

· Monitor caseloads and staff assignments, ensuring alignment with student needs and staff strengths.

· Promote a collaborative, inclusive culture that supports learning and professional growth.

Outreach & Higher Education Engagement

· Act as the lead liaison to school districts, families, and external agencies—building trust, solving problems, and advocating for exceptional student outcomes.

· Represent the Carroll Center at conferences, outreach events, and community forums.

· Cultivate partnerships with universities, practicum programs, and educational leaders to strengthen the pipeline of future professionals.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Education or Students with Visual Impairments, Special Education, or a related field.

· Preferred certifications and licensures: Orientation and Mobility (O&M), Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).

· Extensive experience teaching students ages 3–21 with visual impairments or in special education setting.

· Proven leadership in managing educational services, staff performance, mentoring, staff development and program operations. Budget forecasting and management a plus.

· Deep knowledge of assistive technology, specialized curriculum, IEP process, disability rights, current trends and best practices.

· Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders including school districts, families, staff, and external agencies.

· Excellent presentation, organizational and technology usage skills. · Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to service delivery and staff management.

Salary

$125,000-$130,000
