Job Description
The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Infant Toddler Program is seeking a Developmental Vision Specialist. This position will serve the Metro (Albuquerque) and Southern area of New Mexico with travel to other parts of the state as needed.
This individual will provide family/home intervention services that support young children 0-3 years old with or at risk for visual impairments. This includes collaboration with Early Intervention and Early Childhood agencies. A valid driver’s license is a requirement, as driving and travel are part of this position. Prefer experience in early intervention/home-visiting and experience working with young children who are blind or visually impaired. Prefer bilingual English/Spanish. Qualifications
Must be eligible for a Developmental Specialist II or III license with the New Mexico Early Childhood and Early Care Department, Family Infant Toddler Program. Must have a BA/BS or higher in Early Childhood, or related field. This position requires continuing education about Visual Impairments and a willingness to enroll in the Visual Impairment Program (VIP) at NMSU. This position will require training to become proficient in Braille.
