As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, you’ll provide expert instruction in activities of daily living, adjustment to vision loss, assistive technology, and low vision strategies. Through one-on-one coaching and tailored support, you will empower clients with adaptive techniques, maximizing their ability to live independently. This role involves providing services for adults, primarily seniors across Alachua County, traveling to clients’ locations for personalized instruction.

Responsibilities:
· Conduct comprehensive functional assessments (CFA)
· Develop individualized training plans based on the results of the CFA and the client’s stated needs and goals
· Provide recommendations for client aids and devices based on client needs and goals
· Provide individualized and group instruction in the home and in group environments
· Facilitate Adjustment to Vision Loss classes and Low Vision Support Groups
· Provide community outreach and education on vision rehabilitation topics
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Vision Rehabilitation or a related field from an accredited institution.
· Experience: A minimum of 350 hours of internship experience under the supervision of a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, Orientation and Mobility Specialist, Low Vision Therapist, or Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
· Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) is required. Certifications in Orientation and Mobility, Low Vision Therapy, or as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired will also be considered.
· Motor Vehicle Operation: Willingness and ability to operate a vehicle for business purposes, as this is a “Frequent Driver” position. A valid driver’s license is required.
· Additional Requirements: Must successfully pass an AHCA Level 2 background screening.
